Hurricane Sandy slammed into the Jersey Shore on October 29, 2012
Winds of 80 mph whipped up the seas and the bays. A full moon made the mega-tides much, much higher than normal, and supercharged the storm surge. It was the largest Atlantic Hurricane on record and one of the deadliest and costliest natural disasters in U.S. history.
Sandy left a trail of unimaginable destruction and heartbreak in our little coastal town of Tuckerton, NJ – much of it due to the long-term difficulties that came from securing insurance funds, hiring reliable contractors and the huge financial burden to rebuild.
We will never forget this life-altering weather event.
We lived through the storm and watched our friends and neighbors struggle through the aftermath. Many families, including our own, took years to rebuild their homes and their lives. Their challenges were the inspiration for our business.
